공공의대 신설은 의대 증원으로 촉발된 의료 디스토피아의 화룡점정이다

[메디게이트뉴스] 지난 20여년간 논란이 지속되고 있는 공공의대 신설이 조기 대선을 앞두고 또 다시 화두가 되고 있다. 언론 기고를 통해 오랫동안 반대 주장을 해왔던 나는 이제 이 주제에 대해 같은 주장을 반복적으로 펴는 것에 대해 자괴감마저 든다. 공공의대, 공공의료를 말하는 사람들은 도대체 공공의료가 무엇인지 알고 있기는 한 건지 매우 의심스럽다. 다시 말하자면 그 목적이 공공의대에서 공무원 의사를 많이 배출해 정부기관에서 맘대로 소비하겠다는 것으로 보인다. 진정 국민을 위한 발상이라고 할 수 없기에 이에 분노하지 않을 수 없다. 먼저 공공의료가 무엇인지 살펴보겠다. 공적재정(public fund)으로 공급되는 의료를 모두 공공의료라고 정의되는 데 민간이 감당하기 어려운 의료 서비스를 국가가 책임지고 모든 국민에게 제공하는 것을 뜻한다. 그런 의미에서 국민 모두가 국가건강보험에 가입한 우리나라에서 제공되는 모든 의료는 의료기관 설립 자본의 출처가 어디인지와 상관없이 이미 모두 공 2025.04.23

4월 20일 '전국의사 궐기대회'…의료 정상화 결정하는 중요한 순간, 힘 모아야

의협 포함 의사단체, 전공의, 의대생들과 끝장토론으로 합의안을 만들자

[메디게이트뉴스] 윤석열 전 대통령이 파면되고 대선 시간표가 공표되며 의료재앙 상황이 새로운 국면을 맞이하고 있다. 윤석열 전 대통령의 계엄령 선포로 시작해 파면에 이르게 된 배경에 의대 2000명 증원과 이에 따른 의료붕괴가 큰 몫을 했을 가능성이 높다. 이제 두 달도 채 남지 않은 시간이 지나면 새 대통령과 새 정부가 들어설 것이고 그 전까지 국가적으로, 그리고 의료붕괴 관련 어떤 일이 벌어질지 짐작조차 어렵다. 지난 1년 반 동안의 투쟁이 헛되지 않도록 그리고 학생들과 젊은 의사들의 희생과 의료붕괴 상황을 조속히 끝내고 더 나은 의료 생태계를 만들기 위해 지금 의사들이 결단을 내려야 한다. 시간이 촉박하다. 시시 각각 수시로 변하는 상황에 맞춰서 투쟁의 목표 설정을 다시 정립하고 이에 이르는 로드맵을 만들어서 모두가 한 목소리를 내며 함께 실천해야 한다. 그런데 지금 학생, 전공의 포함 의사들 모두 제각기 다른 주장을 펼치며 상황이 더욱 꼬여가는 것 같아서 안타깝다. 지금과 같 2025.04.09
