[MedigateNews] Kakao Healthcare, which was launched in December last year, is planning to hire doctors all over the world. What would be their thinking forward in doing this? It appears that 'Kakao Healthcare' is planning a full-cycle personal health management service optimized for individuals by combining personal health data, hospital clinical data, genome data, microbiome data, life log data, and is thinking to provide it through a mobile app.

In addition, by introducing the concept of virtual space, the hospital plans to provide the space to store hospital data and perform AI analysis such as machine learning to help hospitals utilize or share big data for patients.

Platform companies such as Kakao have sufficient number of active users and user bases, so they have an advantage in providing B2C (Business to Consumer) services. Kakao Healthcare plans to fully utilize Kakao's such strengths.

Representative Director of Kakao Healthcare, Mr. Hee Hwang, explained “There is no platform such as Kakao talk which active users access every day. As of the second quarter of 2022, Kakao Talk has monthly users of 50 million, Kakao Pay has 22 million, Kakao Bank has 15 million, and Kakao T from Kakao Mobility has 32 million subscribers. Most Koreans are using the Kakao platform in their daily lives.”

Kakao Healthcare plans to provide a full-cycle personal health care service optimized for individuals by combining personal health data, hospital clinical data, genome data, microbiome data, and life log data, and is thinking of providing it through a mobile app called 'Kakao Healthcare'.

Mr. Hwang said in specific, “The core of mobile services is to accurately identify what users want and implement them in an easy-to-use format. It is not a service for doctors or nurses, so the approach should be completely different from developing a mobile system for the hospitals,” and he said, “We should create the service which ordinary people in Korea is able to easily use.”

Kakao Healthcare plans to only provide the platform itself yet to make a room for the start-ups and other companies to fill in the needed contents through the provided platform.

In addition, if the concept of virtual space is introduced to store hospital data and provide a space for AI analysis such as machine learning, it will become possible to resolve the issue which the hospitals cannot utilize the data.
