U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF)는 아스피린의 사용에 대한 효능과 유해를 평가하여 효능이 높을 경우 아스피린을 사용할 것을 권고하고 있다. 수집된 메타분석 데이터에 의하면 아스피린 요법이 관동맥 심질환의 위험을 28%(summary odds ratio, 0.72[95% CI, 0.60-0.87])까지 낮추는 것이 증명되었고, 이러한 효능은 관동맥 심질환의 고위험 환자(5년 위험률이 3% 이상)에서 더 두드러졌다.
